Linq

We started a Geek club at work last week and I needed to have a dev machine at home – without carting my work laptop back and forth. So, I rebuilt the MBP over the last couple of nights and it is looking pretty good.

OSX Leopard and Vista SP1 via Bootcamp. Sweet. I’ve gotten so used to OSX (and XP at work) that Vista is slowing me down, I reckon. Still, that should be fine as I’ll spend most of my time in VS and Firefox as I try and get up to speed on Linq.

I also have a little project on the back boiler but I ain’t going to discuss that quite yet.

And finally, I’ve started using twitter quite a bit. It’s pretty cool, if you ask me. Find me here.

Definitely going to start blogging again

My team at work – the team of which I am a member, rather than MY team – has decided to spend some spare time each month reviewing a new technology topic and coming together to discuss it ‘in the round,’ at the end of the month.

This is really good…. like a book club but for techie stuff. We’ve given it the name CodeX and we’re starting our review with Linq.

On the back of this initiative, I’ve made a promise to myself to blog about items as and when I learn about them, so stay tuned.

Mock Lobster

I’ve decided to set myself a challenge for the holidays…. maybe more than one.

First and foremost, finding out about Mock Objects and how to use them. A lot of traction seems to be building up around them and I just haven’t had the time to look. I will be looking at Rhino Mocks in the first instance as they seem to get a lot of praise.

Assuming that that doesn’t completely fill my spare time, I am also going to look into Workflow Foundation. I’ve had Workflow Foundation at the back of my brain for a good few years now so it is time to move it to the front and decide if it is something of use or not. I bought a couple of books and a video training series on it a while back so it should be easy enough to get into the groove.

That’s the technical, the other goal for this festive period is to use my camera often and effectively….. Let’s start with the often and see if it becomes effective.

That’s it for now. Pre-New Year resolutions! Let’s start a trend.

Back in the groove

Well, that’s the plan. Let’s see how it works out.

I should have taken the correct name of the painting but I didn't. Oops.
